Family Enterprise Forum Groups

The Peer Alliance focuses on creating a lasting and powerful peer experience for family enterprises where members connect and relate to one another at an unprecedented level of openness and sharing.

The full-day quarterly meeting format, with the same core group of individuals, makes efficient use of time and allows for in-depth sharing of knowledge and experience. As barriers are broken down, leaders can enter a safe environment in which to develop as a better person with the ability to build better business interactions.  And, by leveraging technology for brief monthly interim video conference calls, The Peer Alliance provides an experience unmatched by the competition – one that creates lasting, insightful relationships and drives measurable business results.

Currently, we have forums for the following groups:

Current & Emerging Leaders

The most vital attribute of leadership is self-awareness.  And where better to gain it than in a forum of peers?  In a trusted setting, the critical testing of ideas and candid feedback from those in similar circumstances is simply unparalleled.  Interests tend to range from identifying strengths and limitations, to building a career development plan to exploring the mine fields that lie ahead.  The Peer Alliance presents you with the opportunity to address some of the following critical issues:

Intergenerational Teams

Parents and their adult children find that forums provide an opportunity for reflection, a chance to open dialogue on topics that frequently remain silent- topics like Mom’s and Dad’s estate plans and their desires for long-term health care as well as more tangible business issues such as launchng a new product or service.  As parents hear from children other than their own and children hear from parents other than their own, concerns get validated and often unthought-of solutions emerge.  The Peer Alliance presents you with the opportunity to address some of the following critical issues:

Women’s Groups

The roles and responsibilities of women both within and outside the family enterprise are extensive and research indicates that a growing number of women are taking on leadership positions in the family enterprise. Economic and social factors have played a part for years, but today it’s more complex because of the unique challenges and opportunities women face as being both leaders in the family business as well as in the family.  The Peer Alliance Women’s Forum presents a learning community for women who are stakeholders in their family business to share and explore these challenges and opportunities with a goal of personal and professional development.

Siblings

Siblings may be the products of the same parents, but that certainly doesn’t ensure that siblings will think alike on all issues.  In a secure environment with other sibling teams, Sibling Forum members take time out to work on the business vs. working in the business.  In the Forum, they can address a broad range of challenges from old rivalries that still ensue to achieving closer alignment on longer term goals.  In addition, The Peer Alliance presents you with the opportunity to address some of the following critical issues:

Non-family Executives

Family members are increasingly recognizing that they alone may not possess all the requisite skills to take the business forward.  The increased importance of key non-family executives is part of the process of professionalizing the enterprise.  These key executives need forums as well.  It is their venue for growth and professional development not only to the benefit of themselves, but to the family enterprises they serve.  The Peer Alliance presents you with the opportunity to address some of the following critical issues:
